The difference between electro-galvanized and hot-dip galvanized

Different concept

Hot-dip galvanizing is an effective metal anti-corrosion method, which is mainly used in metal structure facilities of various industries. Principle is that the rust-removed steel parts are immersed in about 500°C molten zinc solution  to attach a zinc layer to the surface of the steel parts to achieve the purpose of corrosion protection.

Electro-galvanizing, also known as cold galvanizing in the industry, is the process of using electrolysis to form a uniform, dense, and well-bonded metal or alloy deposition layer on the surface of the part. Compared with other metals, zinc is a relatively cheap and easily plated metal. It is a low-value anti-corrosion electroplating layer and is widely used to protect steel parts, especially to prevent atmospheric corrosion, and for decoration.

Different Process

Hot-dip galvanizing process: finished product pickling, water washing, adding auxiliary plating solution, drying, plating, cooling, chemical treatment, cleaning, polishing, hot-dip galvanizing completed.

Electro-galvanizing process: chemical degreasing, hot water washing, water washing, electric degreasing, hot water washing, water washing, strong corrosion, water washing, lectrogalvanized iron alloy, water washing, water washing, light emitting, passivation, water washing, drying.

Different appearance

The overall appearance of hot-dip galvanizing is slightly rougher, and will produce process water lines, dripping tumors, etc., especially at one end of the workpiece, which is silvery white as a whole. The electro-galvanized surface is smoother, mainly yellow-green, and of course there are also colorful, bluish-white, and white with green light. The entire workpiece basically does not appear zinc tumors or agglomeration.
